How To Connect a Custom Domain With Blogger - hello blogger, wherever you are. see you again with me at this Blog Gudio. Gudio Blog is a blog that provides information in the form of programming, computer tutorials, blog tips and tricks, adsense and many others. Before we go to the topic of the discussion this time, which is about "Custom Domains", hope you find benefits in this article. and of course, before we go to the topic of our discussion this time, maybe there are some of you who don't know What Domain is? and What is Blogger Custom Domain? Okay, I'll explain a little about that
What Is a Domain? In general, domains or domain names are assumed to be physical addresses. for example, satellite navigation requires a street name or postal code so that the system can provide direction. It's the same as a web browser that requires a domain name to direct you or visitors to the website.
Domain or Domain Name is a name given to identify a server on the internet. With domains, users on the internet will be increasingly easier to browse to servers. So we no longer remember the row of numbers that is commonly called ip to access a server. Because in general, people are more difficult to remember numbers than names.
In the domain, there is the term TLD (Top Level Domain). TLD itself has 2 parts, namely gTLD (Generic Top Level Domain) and ccTLD (Country Code Top Level Domain).
Generic Top Level Domain (gTLD) is a domain name that ends with .com .net .org .edu .mil or .gov. This type of domain is often also called the Top Level Domain, which is the domain directly under the root. And it doesn't show domains based on country, so anyone can register.
Country Code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) is the highest domain level based on country codes such as .id, .us, .ca, .ru, and many others.
At the time this article was created, this blog domain still uses the domain of blogger, namely "https://gudio-blog.blogspot.com", before I buy a domain and change it to "gudioblog.com".
for a more complete and detailed explanation of Domains, you can search the internet or wikipedia, here I only explain the Domain briefly.
What is Custom Domain?Custom domain is one of the facilities from Blogger.com that allows us to change the address of our blog on the subdomain blogspot.com with our own domain. For example: https://gudio-blog.blogspot.com which changed its domain name to www.gudioblog.com.
And you don't need to worry about your traffic on the old domain, because if your blog visitors go to, for example: https: //gudio-blog.blogspot.com, then automatically, visitors will be directed to the new domain that has been registered to custom domain blogger, that is for example: https://www.gudioblog.com. So you will not lose traffic from your old visitors.
How To Add a Domain To Blogger?
Settings On BloggerThe first thing you have to do, log in to your blogger account. If it's already on your blogger dashboard, select the settings menu and select "Basic". The menu will appear as shown below:
Select "+ Set up a third-party URL for your blog" menu, as shown in the picture above. After that a column will appear, enter your domain address in that column, if it is, then click save.
Then when you click save, an error will appear and at that error CNAME will appear, as below:
You don't worry, we will fix this problem. All you have to do now is copy the CNAME code that appears and temporarily save it to Notepad, because we will use the CNAME code shortly.
let the blogger page appear like that and now we move to the cpanel page. When you buy a domain, you will be given a cpanel that is used to configure your domain. Maybe the location will be different for each cpanel.
Settings On cPanelIn this tutorial, I bought a domain from Hostinger, so you must login first. On your cpanel dashboard page, select the domain menu and select the "DNS ZONE" menu, as shown below:
Then scroll to the bottom of the page, there will be an option to reset the settings to default. Check the option and click reset.
After you click the reset button then wait for about 1 minute or more, then please reload your cpanel page. And after a few minutes, please reload the page.
In the "A (Host)" section, click the "Add New" button,
then fill in the following IP:
On the host, fill in the name of your website or blog without "www". So, for example in this tutorial, the address of my blog is www.gudioblog.com, then enter it in the host column: gudioblog.com. In the "Point To" section, fill in the IP Address that I gave above. Then click save.
Fill in the four IP Addresses one by one.
If so, then now the last step is to copy the CNAME code that is on your blogger and paste it in the CNAME section of your cPanel. Then the results will be as shown below:
And after finishing entering the CNAME code on cPanel, go back to your blogger page and now try clicking the save button. And everything should work. But if there is an error, don't panic. Wait a few minutes, and try again.
Wait 24 more hours for Propagation.
Propagation is the time needed to update information from our blog's DNS. Also called the domain name propagation period, which is the time lag required by a domain name to recognize or connect to the server.
Okay, that's how our tutorial is today. Hopefully this tutorial that I gave can be useful for all of you. And don't forget, if for you this article is useful, please share and follow me on social media.
See you again in the next article of course with more interesting articles.
