As with the article title above "How To Use Google Search Console", of course you already know, what I will discuss this time. But don't stop here, because I will explain about the existing webmasters and the most used by blog owners or website owners to grow traffic from the blogs or websites they have. So read this article to completion, so you can understand more about webmaster tools and understand more about how to use this tools.
But, before we go to how to use this tool, I will try to explain what webmaster tools are.
What is Webmaster Tools?Webmaster Tools if I may say is a website that is made for free by search engine service providers. Where the webmaster tools providers are like Google Webmaster Tools, Bing Webmaster Tools, Yandex Webmaster Tools. So they (webmaster tools provider), make a website so that we as managers of a blog can get information in the form of:
- The report about our article has been indexed by the search engine or not.
- Reports about crawl errors from search engines to crawl blogs that you manage.
- Reports on traffic growth from blogs that you manage, and so on.
So of course, with this webmaster tools, it will greatly facilitate us all in managing a blog, because we will be informed in detail about the growth and development of our blog.
For example, usually a blog article writer, after posting articles, always submits the url of the article posted to this webmaster tool. What purpose? of course so that articles that have been created, can be immediately crawled by search engines and articles that have been posted, can appear on search engines.
Can you imagine what if there were no webmaster tools? As I wrote above, there are several webmaster tools, such as:
I will explain one by one the webmaster tools above in detail so that you will understand.
Google Search ConsolePreviously named Google Webmaster Tools, but now it has been changed to Google Search Console. Where Google Search Console, makes it easier for us as users. This Google Search Console is a website designed by Google to facilitate the use and management of a site within the Google search engine area. With these tools, it makes it easier for you to monitor your site activities in search engines. And the good thing is, everything that Google gives in this tool is all free.

How To Use Webmaster Tools On a Blog - Domain
In the picture above, there are two choices and you can choose one of these choices.
If you choose "Domain" (this is the newest feature of Google Search Console), then you only need to enter your domain name. For example, gudioblog.com. That's all you need to input, you don't need to enter http or https or www or m (for mobile).
- All URLs across all subdomains (m., www.)
- All URLs across https or http
but by using this method, you must verify DNS. If you use this method, I suggest that you have a domain first and don't use blogger subdomains.
- Requires DNS verification
If you choose a Prefix URL, you don't need to verify DNS, you just need to install the meta code on your blog's HTML. But you have to do it for all Prefix URLs on your blog, like http / https / www /. By using this method, you don't have to buy a domain, you can already use the domain of the bloggerIn this article, I will exemplify using the first method by inputting the domain of the blog or website that we have and verifying DNS.
Please add your domain to the domain and click domain fields, a popup will appear as shown below.
How To Use Webmaster Tools On a Blog - Code
In the popup that appears as in the picture above, you copy the code provided and do not close the popup. Then, you add to the DNS settings on your domain. Because I use cloudflare as cdn on this blog, then I will do DNS settings on cloudflare.
Please access your cloudflare account, and enter the DNS settings section and input the code that you copied in the popup in Google Search Console, as in the example image below
How To Use Webmaster Tools On a Blog - Configure DNS
If you have input, then the next step is to click the "Add Record" button. Now back on the Google Search Console page, and the last step click the "Verify" button.
And if you follow the steps as I wrote above, you should have successfully added the property domain to Google Search Console / Google Webmaster Tools.
Add a Sitemap to Google Search ConsoleAfter you have successfully added the property domain to Google Webmaster Tools / Google Search Console, it is time to add a sitemap so that Google bots can crawl all the URLs on your blog or website.
Here's how to do it:
On the page dashboard of Google Search Console, select the "Sitemap" menu, as shown below.

A page will appear to add the url sitemap. Enter the url sitemap from your blog or website.

If you have entered the url of your blog or website sitemap, then click submit and you can continue your other work and let the Google bot crawl it.
But if only after posting the article on the blog and you want to immediately order the Google bot to crawl your new article, you can use the "URL Inspection" feature previously called "Fetch As Google". The trick is, you only need to paste the url of your article in the "URL Inspection" column, as shown below:
How To Use Webmaster Tools On a Blog - URL Inspection
then press "Enter" on your keyboard, then Google will check the link you posted whether it has been indexed by Google or not.

If there is a link that you paste, it has not been indexed on Google, it will appear as in the image below that informs "URL is Not On Google", meaning Google tells you that the link you posted has not been indexed. To notify Google to do indexing, you only need to click on the "Request Indexing" button as shown below:

do the above method shortly after you post an article on your blog, if you want your article to be crawled immediately by Google Bot. If you don't do that, Google Bot will still crawl your sitemap url, which is in the url of the sitemap, there is a link to your latest article. But not immediately.
Check Website Performance in the Google Search ConsoleNow we will discuss how to see the performance of a website or blog that we manage. How to do it is very easy, by selecting the "Performance" menu on your Google Search Console dashboard, as shown below:

Then, the performance of the website that you manage will appear in a certain period of time.
